Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville women's volleyball team suffered their first home loss of the season on Wednesday evening, falling to the Buffalo State Bengals by the final score of 3-0.
Buffalo State came out strong in the first set with a 10-3 lead, then going up 18-10 over the Spartans. They then went on to win the first set 25-13. D'Youville was able to stay competitive with the Bengals in the second set as they led 15-14. However Buffalo State would come back to lead 19-18 and would win the second set 25-20. In the third, the Bengals closed out the match with a 25-17 win to take the match 3-0.
Freshman Carly Milleville (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) recorded a team high eight kills in the match with Talia Wright (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) following with seven. Wright added six digs, tied with Jasmine Filkov (North Collins, NY/North Collins) for second on the team behind Desiree Walters (Oswego, IL/Oswego), who recorded 12.
Angela Filkov (North Collins, NY/North Collins) had a team high 15 assists in the match while Eh Dah Way (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) added one kill. Alexandria McBride (Elma, NY/Iroquois) added a kill and four digs with Mikaela Milleville (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) tallying a dig.
The women will travel to Allegheny and Penn State-Behrend this upcoming weekend to play two matches at each location, beginning with Allegheny on Friday.
