Women's Volleyball Suffers Loss to St. John Fisher

Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville women's volleyball team suffered their second home loss of the season on Tuesday evening, losing to the St. John Fisher Cardinals 3-0.

Fisher played a strong first set and were in control throughout, winning 25-14. They then carried their play over into the second set where they took a 2-0 match lead with a 25-12 set win. D'Youville stepped up their game in the third set, holding steady with the Cardinals at 20-20. Unfortunately for the Spartans, Fisher would score five of the final seven points in the set to win the third 25-22 and the match 3-0.

Talia Wright (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) led the team with six kills, adding a service ace and three digs. Carly Milleville (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Julie Fleming (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary's Academy) each had three kills in the match as well. Desiree Walters (Oswego, IL/Oswego) recorded a team high 19 digs while Angela Filkov (North Collins, NY/North Collins) had a team leading 14 assists.

The women will next visit Oswego this weekend to play four total matches. They will first face Elmira and Oswego on Friday, followed by Utica and SUNY Canton on Saturday.
