Weekend at Oswego Starts off with Two Losses for Women's Volleyball

Oswego, NY – The D'Youville women's volleyball team opened up their weekend at Oswego with a pair of losses to the Elmira Soaring Eagles and Oswego Lakers Friday evening, each match end with the final score of 3-0.

In the first set, D'Youvlle battled hard but fell to Elmira 25-18. The Soaring Eagles took their momentum into the second set where they took a 2-0 match lead with a 25-15 set win. The Spartans battled hard in the third set, but ultimately were defeated 25-20 to lose the match 3-0.

Lauren Conley (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) led the way with eight kills in the match, followed by Carly Milleville (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) with six. Desiree Walters (Oswego, IL/Oswego) recorded a team high 18 kills with Talia Wright (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) adding 12. Milleville also added 10 digs while Angela Filkov (North Collins, NY/North Collins) had a team high 21 assists.

The second match of the evening saw the Spartans fall to the host Oswego Lakers in three sets. After a challenging first set that saw D'Youville fall 25-18, they would go on to lose to the Lakers 25-10 in the second set and 25-7 in the third set.

Milleville recorded a team high 5 kills in the match with Wright, Conley, and Julie Fleming (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary's Academy) all tallying four. Walters again led the team in digs with 11 and Filkov led the way with 16 assists.

The women will resume action at Oswego on Saturday as they play Utica at 11:00am and SUNY Canton at 3:00pm.
