Buffalo, NY - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) released their 2018 all-conference selections Wednesday morning with one Spartan representing the team amongst the best in the conference.
Junior Jasmine Filkov (North Collins, NY/North Collins) shifted from a defensive specialist/Libero role to an outside hitter role this season and was outstanding for the Spartans, earning an AMCC Third Team All-Conference selection. In conference play, Jasmine finished ninth in kills/set (2.77) and digs (129), tied for ninth in service aces (13), and tenth in kills (86).
Filkov proved to be an effective player on offense and defense, giving the team a big boost where they needed it. She finished third on the team in kills (111) and digs (249) but was first in double-doubles (5). In the final six matches of the season, Filkov averaged 13.2 kills/match, 15.8 digs/match, and 1.8 service aces/match. She recorded five double-doubles in the final six matches and missed her sixth by just two kills.
Throughout the season, Jasmine tallied double-digit kills five times and double-digit digs 14 times, including each of the final 10 matches. Once the conference schedule began, Filkov transformed her game and became a huge reason for the women's playoff push.
Jasmine attended North Collins High School prior to enrolling at D'Youville where she played five years of volleyball and four years of softball. Filkov had a very successful volleyball career at North Collins with awards such as: All-WNY (2x), MVP (3x), CCAA First Team All-Star (3x), and League MVP. She also played club volleyball for Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club.
At D'Youville, Jasmine is an ESS/DPT major. She is the daughter of Tome and Sue Filkov.
