Hamburg, NY - The D'Youville women's cross country team took first overall at the Meghan Memorial on Saturday morning, adding in an individual top-place finish.
Junior Rachel Luczak (Lancaster, NY/Immaculata) took first overall for the women on Saturday, finishing the 5k with a time of 22:30. Luczak's time was over a minute better than the next registered runner.
Stephanie Lisiecki (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) ran an outstanding race herself as the senior finished third overall with a time of 23:53. Alison Gareis (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary) added a third top-10 finish as she came in sixth with a time of 26:22.
Both Kaitlyn Furtado (Acushnet, MA/Fairhaven) and Danielle Couch (Wheatfield, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) finished in the top-10 as well with a pair of strong races. Furtado came in with the time of 26:38 while Couch crossed the finish line with the time of 27:03.
Mary Blackley (Lockport, NY/Blackley Academy) and Joanna Elledge (Lockport, NY/Wilson) ran times of 28:13 and 30:18 respectively in the 5k, turning in very good efforts. Alexis Dymond (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) and Jenna Donati (Depew, NY/Depew) rounded out the runners for the women as each put in a solid morning of work.
D'Youville finished first overall as a team with an average time of 25:17 - the best amongst all participating teams. Their score of 28 was 15 points higher than the next team.
The Spartans will race next on Saturday, October 19 as they will run in the Cross Country Only Championship. The CCOCs will be the final race before the AMCC Championship.
