Buffalo, NY - Junior guard Sydney Alton had a big week for the D'Youville women's basketball team, playing an integral role in the team's two conference games.
Alton tallied 10 points in 26 minutes of action in a 68-59 win over Penn State-Behrend last Wednesday. Alton shot 42.9% from the field while adding a career high eight rebounds in the matchup between undefeated teams in the AMCC Game of the Week.
On Saturday at Pitt.-Greensburg, Sydney scored a season-high 11 points to go with a team-high 10 rebounds for her first career double-double in the seven-point loss to the Bobcats. The junior played 36 minutes in the loss - second most on the team.
In their last five games, Alton has continued to increase her scoring total to Saturday's season-high of 11. Despite playing guard, Sydney's rebound total's have been extremely impressive as well. Over the past seven games she has grabbed at least three rebounds a game and has had at least five rebounds in each of her last five.
Through the first eight games this season, Sydney is third on the team in rebounding (4.8 RPG) and fifth in scoring (5.3 PPG). She ranks top-five on the team in assists (1.6 APG) as well.
Sydney had a big impact on the team as a freshman as she led the team in minutes and assists, was tied for second in steals, was fourth in rebounding, and fifth in scoring. She then followed up with a strong sophomore season as she scored a career-high 19 points and was top five on the team in scoring, rebounding, minutes, assists, and steals.
