Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville softball team closed out their Florida trip with a 4-2 record last week and an 8-2 record overall - the best in program history.
That record was reached due in large part to the team's pitching, led by junior pitcher Alexa Haberer. Haberer put together and incredible week, picking up two wins - including a perfect game.
In her first start of the week, Haberer pitched a complete game by going 7.0 innings in the 3-1 victory over North Park. She gave up just three hits and struck out one for her third win of the season.
To follow up, Alexa would pitch the first perfect game of her career in the team's 12-0 victory over Alverno. She went 5.0 innings while striking out nine, allowing no hits, runs, or walks.
Closing out the week, she went 6.0 innings, striking out three. At the plate, Haberer collected three hits with a run and two RBI. For her performances, she was named AMCC Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Last week, Haberer began the season 2-0 with wins over UMass-Dartmouth and St. Scholastica. She was named AMCC Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career.
Currently, Alexa is first in the AMCC in complete games (5), second ERA (1.09) and wins (4), and fourth in innings pitched (32.0) in strikeouts (28).
During her sophomore season, Alexa led team in appearances (27), starts (22), wins (9), complete games (17), innings pitched (140.2), strikeouts (94), and ERA (3.83). Against Hilbert, she pitched her first career no-hitter. At the plate she was first is RBIs (21), tied for second in doubles (5), tied for fourth in triples (2), and fifth in batting average (.310).
As a freshman in 2019, Haberer led the team in wins (8), saves (1), and strikeouts (66), was second in complete games (100.2), games started (16), and ERA (3.48).
At Lake Shore High School, Alexa played volleyball and softball. In softball she was named an ECIC First Team All-Star, her team MVP, and won the Iron-Man Award. Her career goal is to gain her Master's if Occupational Therapy at D'Youville and work in an elementary school as well as coach softball.
Alexa is from Derby, NY and the daughter of Ron and Jeanette Haberer. She is an Occupational Therapy major.
