Devon Camel joined the D'Youville men's basketball coaching staff in 2019-20 as an assistant coach.
Camel's primary responsibilities included video breakdown, recruiting, branding, promoting, and focuses on working with the guards in practice. He has helped organize the team's Elite Prospect Camp in October of 2019.
In 2017-18, Devon joined the men's basketball program as a transfer and immediately boosted the team's defense. As a junior, Camel played in 24 games, starting seven of them. He shot 47.6% from the field, averaging 4.5 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 0.9 APG, and 0.4 SPG during that season but was best known for his defensive prowess as he consistently was tasked with guarding the opposition's best player.
As a senior in 2018-19, Camel became a greater offensive threat with 9.5 PPG, a 50.6 FG%, 40.0 3PT%, and a 63.3 FT% - all career highs. He started 18 of 26 games and scored double-digits 14 times. He eclipsed 20 points twice - including a career high 24 points and six rebound against RIT. Again, Camel was the team's shutdown defender.
At Cheektowaga High School, Devon played basketball for four years where he was named All-Center Court Defense and was a two-time Sectional Champion. He also played football for three years.
He is currently enrolled in the MBA program at D'Youville.
