Buffalo, NY - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) playoffs have concluded for the 2018 season with two Spartans being named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team.
Senior center back Josh Hammer (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) and junior forward Hunter Sherman (Lockport, NY/Lockport) were named to the all-tournament team after their performances against the Franciscan Barons in the first round of the AMCC playoffs. The fifth seeded Spartans fell 6-1 to the fourth seeded Barons in difficult conditions.
Sherman scored the lone goal for the Spartans just four minutes before halftime to make it a 2-1 deficit for D'Youville. On the other end, Hammer broke up numerous attacks from the Barons and was a leader out of the back.
The loss against Franciscan marked the second consecutive season that D'Youville had made it to the AMCC playoffs and the third time in the past five years. This season, Penn State-Behrend claimed the championship over the Medaille Mavericks on Saturday afternoon.
