Buffalo, NY - In their first year of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) competition, two Spartans earned all-conference honors to close out the 2019-20 season.
Senior Ashley Len (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) and sophomore Chloe Strong (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) were named all-conference bowlers on Monday morning, announced the AMCC. Len earned AMCC Second Team All-Conference honors with Strong named as an AMCC Third Team All-Conference selection.
Len had an outstanding season for the women, ranking as one of the team's best bowlers in every match. To begin the season, Ashley placed third in the Grapevine Classic with a 185.20 average and didn't bowl below a 156. She then followed up with a 180.2 average at the Redhawk Fall Rally where she finished fifth.
Closing out the season at the AMCC Round Robin, Len finished in third place where she averaged a 186.67 and never bowled below a 178. Len was consistently the best bowler for the women this season and helped the team reach a fourth place finish in the AMCC Round Robin and a 23-34 record in the team's first season of NCAA competition. Len ranked first in traditional frame average in the AMCC and was 12th in baker frame average.
Strong established herself as one of the team's most reliable bowlers this season, helping establish the team as a contender in every match. Strong consistently finished within the top three for the Spartans, establishing herself as an important piece of the team moving forward.
To open 2019-20, Strong bowled a 165.20 average at the Grapevine Classic, finishing 12th overall. She would then finish with an average of 171.20. In the AMCC Round Robin to close out the season, Chloe would take 11th overall with a score of 167.44. She has been one of the team's best bowlers throughout the season. Her traditional frames average ranked sixth in the AMCC while her baker frame average ranked ninth.
